The Purpose of this Blog
Do you know what’s great about fantasy sports? It’s the thrill of the draft, the skill of manager, the ability to follow and cheer teams outside you local blackout restrictions whenever you want to kick back on a summer day.  It’s hockey starting a 6pm and going until 1am on a Tuesday.  Do you know what stinks about fantasy sports? The lack of camaraderie within a league, the inability to bounce ideas off your league mates, that one guy who spends WAAAY too much time researching and, of course, “Honey let’s go to the mall” on Sunday at noon.
This blog will be dedicated to really enjoying fantasy sports.  I will cover the apps to watch the games, the best places to find relevant information, a place to discuss strategies without having someone in your league steal that player off waivers.  A water cooler of sorts to hang out and talk about the fantasy side of sports.  I will reviewing the best apps to follow your teams as well as discussing whether packages such as Extra Innings and Raceview are worth the extra money.
If you are looking for fantasy advice, I may give a few of my own opinions but that would be just as valuable as my stock picks, relational advice and whether you can pull off that look for a person of your age.  Instead I will be looking for other bloggers and magazine writers who have information that I feel is worthy of consideration.  You see, I am that guy with way too much time on my hands.  When I find something interesting, I will link to the article and introduce the people with the knowledge.  This way we can all benefit from their research and perhaps they can get the recognition that they deserve.  And we get the championships that we deserve.
As for me, I’ve been playing fantasy Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Hockey and NASCAR for over 15 years.  I’ve won a few and lost a few.  I fell in love with fantasy sports because I refused to cheer for the jersey.  Native of Chicago, I’ve survived the North Side/South Side battles, The Superbowl Shuffle, and, until recently, “Oh we still have a hockey team?”  I play in every sport and a few leagues.  I look for different ways to play the game which prompted me to start my own NASCAR game at www.chasethefantasy.com. I couldn’t understand why every fantasy NASCAR league is set up to limit the enjoyment of my favorite drivers or why I have to pick someone from the “C” class. If I’m having a bad race, it’s usually because of them.  I also don’t understand the obvious game that the Chase for Sprint Cup affords.  12 drivers, 10 races? How can you not have a game built around that? Anyways, please check it out if you are interested in NASCAR.  Its great way for the casual player to play NASCAR without too much work but intense enough during the playoffs like all sports are.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this blog and hope that it helps you out.  I realized the need for this information when I was on one of those Sundays at the mall experiences.  I was in one of those “husband areas” sitting with all the other guys when I pulled out my phone and started watching the baseball game from Extra Innings.  Within an hour, all 10 of us were cheering on Boston.  6 guys bought the service on the spot.
With Daytona starting up in two weeks, my next post will be an introduction of a great site that has let me place in the money for the last 5 years in my NASCAR league.  The guys are brilliant and they have a live chat right before race time. It’s a good time.
